Her mother left Trinidad to attend college in the U.S., and was reunited with her children in New York after getting a house there.

Upon the release of her debut album Pink Friday in 2010, it was certified platinum and became the first album by a solo female rapper to achieve this status in seven years. Minaj’s immense talent and dedication have made her one of the most popular and influential figures in the music industry.

Minaj joined forces with designer Jeremy Scott to sign a lucrative endorsement deal with Adidas in 2012.  In addition to Adidas, she has collaborated with other prominent brands including Fendi, MAC Cosmetics, Mattel, OPI Products and Beats Electronics, among others.

These partnerships have allowed the rapper to launch her own line of products ranging from lipstick, fragrance, nail polish, fashion, and even a pink-haired Nicki Minaj Barbie doll. Together with Mona Scott-Young, she created a line of fruit-infused wines called MYX Fusions, of which she serves as co-owner, creative director, and ambassador.
