Rock was born on February 7, 1965, in Andrews, South Carolina. Rosalie, his mom, worked as an educator and social worker, specifically helping those with mental disabilities. Julius, his dad, worked as a truck driver and delivered newspapers.

Rock is the oldest among his parents’ seven kids, consisting of six boys and one girl. Additionally, he had an older half-brother on his father’s side named Charles Ledell Rock, who struggled with alcoholism and tragically passed away in 2006.
